Bihu Park in Neihu 碧湖公園

In Neihu there are a few lakes or rather ponds which are popular with the residents. One of the bigger ponds is Bihu 碧湖 which is located close to the Wende MRT Station 捷運文德站 on the Brown Line. When you exit the station at exit no.2 you need to turn left and at the lights cross the Wende Rd. turning into Lane 101, Wende Rd 文德路101巷. At the next intersection you will see the lake on your right.

Right next to the lake is a well known school for traditional Chinese arts, National Taiwan College of Performing Arts 國立臺灣戲曲學院.

At this time of the year (late fall/early winter) you can spot many migrating (and also local) birds around the lake. We did see quite a few:

Mallard - Anas platyrhynchos - 綠頭鴨 - Kaczka krzyżówka

Black-crowned night heron - Nycticorax nycticorax - 夜鷺 - Ślepowron

Egret - Ardea alba - 白鷺 - Czapla biała

Grey heron - Ardea cinerea - 蒼鷺 - Czapla siwa

Moorhen - Gallinula chloropus - 紅冠水雞 - Kurka wodna (kokoszka)

Goose - Anser domesticus - 鴨子 - Gęś

We also studied some trees:

Blackboard Tree - Alstonia scholaris - 黑板樹 (象皮樹) - Alstonia szkolna

Bald cypress - Taxodium distichum - 落羽松 - Cypryśnik błotny

Japanese blue oak - Cyclobalanopsis glauca - 青剛櫟

Powder-puff tree - Barringtonia racemosa - 玉蕊 (水茄冬) - Keben okazały

We also found some tiny moths' pupae and caterpillars and of course months:

The trails on the kill by the lake have stairs and are quite easy to climb.

We stopped to rest and for a snack at the top of the hill.

There is a small island with some benches on the lake:

There is also a nice playground nearby:
