Taipei Moomin Cafe

Two years ago a first Moomin Cafe opened in Taipei. Immediately it became very popular with both families and young people. Everybody wanted to take a photo with the huge Moomin character or just sit next to one. There are already a few Moomin Cafes in Japan and that is where this one came from 😃 Few days ago it was mine and Ania's first time to visit this theme restaurant. Our friends joined us for Ania's early birthday celebration. When we arrived at the Cafe (after searching for parking space for over 20 minutes) Ania was sooo happy that she couldn't stop smiling. Moomins are her favorite book characters and she was really looking forward to visiting the restaurant. See for yourselves how happy Ania was: You can choose set meals (main dish plus salad, soup and drink) with pasta or rice, as well as pancakes and desserts. Things we ordered were very tasty. Here is the menu: Many dishes and drinks have Moomin characters decoration...

Urodziny Panny Anny

Ania is 6!

Last week our youngest turned 6 years old!  Time flies! She is a big girl now and in one month will be officially starting 1st grade.  On the day of her birthday we only had a tiny birthday cake to share between 3 of us, both Zosia and Jas were away on that day.  Few days later we celebrated with many friends and a big cake! Although only two other children were Ania's age, she still had a great time.  So many presents! Books, game, calligraphy set, writing stationery, cuddly toys, clothes and DIY sets! Ania is really enjoying every single one of them. Thank you Everyone! For most of the Taiwanese it's very unusual to organise a kid's birthday party at home. If the parents decide to celebrate child's birthday and invite friends, they usually do it at a kids' play space or McDonald's. We always have it at home. And although it required a bit of preparations and later cleaning up, I prefer it this way :-) . U...

No i musieliśmy zagrać ... Eee tam!"

March birthdays

Both, my and my husband's birthdays fall in March. This year was somewhat special, because kids really took the effort and prepared nice surprises for our birthdays. (Well maybe they were not surprises for me, but still it's the thought that counts, right?) Zosia couldn't come up with any present for me. She didn't want to buy anything (she doesn't have much pocket money). She wanted to make something for me, but ... it had to be practical as she knows that I like practical presents. I gave her an idea of making labels for all our kitchen jars. And that's what she made! I've never thought that she would make labels as nice and as professional looking as these: Jas decided to make a birthday cake for me. It was first time for him to make a sponge cake with baked apples (Babcia's recipe). It turned out delicious! Two birthdays in one month that's a lot of thinking and work for the kids :-) Zosia really had no idea what to give Tim. ...
