When Ania was just over 3 years old, her Lego loving brother came up with a Duplo exercise for her. The idea of the exercise was for Ania to build an identical structure as Jas'. Not hard you will say, but for a child who has never played with blocks before it was not an easy task. Gdy Ania miała trzy latka, Jaś wymyślił dla niej ćwiczenie z Duplo. Ania miała za zadanie zbudowanie konstrukcji identycznej z tą którą Jaś wcześniej zbudował. Może się to wydawać bardzo łatwe, ale nie dla dziecka, które nigdy wcześnej nie bawiło się klockami. W jednym z poprzednich wpisów  opisałam jak trzyletnia wówczas Ania układała żółte cylindry. Teraz czas pokazać jak można połączyć wszystkie cztery zestawy cylindrów i co ciekawego może z tego wyjść. I - Na początek wszystkie cztery zestawy układamy w poziomie: II - Układamy wszystkie cztery zestawy w pionie, czyli budujemy 4 wieże: III - Łączymy żółte, zielone i czerwone cylindry, układając jedne na drugich cylindry o tej samej średnicy: IV - Na koniec najbardziej efektowne połączenie cylindrów - z wszystkich czterech zestawów układamy gwiazdę: I jak się Wam ta gwiazda podoba?  Może wkrótce coś innego przyjdzie nam jeszcze do głowy? Nie pisałam wcześniej o kolorowych cylindrach Montessori, a warto.  Wśród materiałów sensorycznych są cztery zestawy cylindrów: żółte, czerwone, niebieskie i zielone. Każdy zestaw składa się z 10 cylindrów. Żółte cylindry różnią się między sobą wysokością i średnicą. Najkrótszy cylinder ma najmniejszą średnicę, a najwyższy największą. Czerwone cylindry mają taką samą wysokość, ale różną średnicę. Niebieskie cylindry mają taką samą średnicę, ale różną wysokość. Zielone, tak jak żółte, różnią się między sobą wysokością i średnicą, jednak najkrótszy cylinder ma największą średnicę, a najwyższy najmniejszą. Dzisiaj pokażę jedynie jak trzyletnia wówczas Ania pracowała z żółtymi cylindrami. Typically typhoon day is when schools, classes, offices are closed and everybody has so called typhoon holiday. But this typhoon was nothing but typical ... First - it kept me awake throughout most of the night (I managed to fall asleep between 3 and 4am an 6 and 7:30am). The wind and rain were so strong that the windows and balcony door in our bedroom were rattling like crazy. I was afraid that the whole balcony door is going to get blown in. With every stronger gust of wind I would jump out of bed an run over to the door to ... hold it. I know, I know ... what did I think ... Here is a short clip I took in the morning: Second - because of typhoon Zosia couldn't go to Ilan to translate for a Polish theater at a theater workshop. Third - This typhoon left a BIG mess around our house. A fallen tree on the stairs to our house. Papaya tree down. Leaves, leaves everywhere. And ... the roof of our house! More and more often people ask me how do I homeschool a three year old.  What does a three year old do at home? Let's take a look at Ania's week, here are some of the things he was busy with: Making bubbles - it's a favorite of all the kids. I also use play-dough as a material for teaching letter shapes. This is first time Ania rolled the play-dough to write her name. Time for math - it was Ania's idea to combine two different math works. Polishing silver is also one of the favorites. After polishing the silvers it's time to set the table. :-) Working with so called Montessori Metal Insets is important in developing the correct pencil grip as well as good control over the pencil (drawing parallel lines). Very often Ania takes a piece of paper, rolls it into a tube and looks through it. That gave me an idea to make with her binoculars out of toilet roll paper tubes.
