Babel School in Taiwan

W końcu wróciłam! Tak więc mogę z powrotem zająć się nauką Ani (przez ostatni miesiąc robiła to Zosia). Czego Ania uczyła się w ciągu ostatniego tygodnia? 我回來了！現在我終於可以繼續教明玲（一整個月都是明秀在教她）。那上個禮拜明玲學到了什麼呢？ Poniedziałek 星期一 Poniedziałek jest dniem szkolnym, a więc z samego rana Zosia zawiozła Anię na zajęcia do szkoły. 禮拜一是明玲在學校上課的日子，明秀一大早就帶她去。 Po szkole i szybkim lunchu Ania pojechała z Zosią do Taipei Ski School, gdzie Zosia dawała lekcje jazdy na nartach. 中午下課後吃完午飯，明秀帶明玲去台北滑雪學校（明秀在那裡教滑雪）。 Wtorek 星期二 Przedpołudniem Ania zrobiła kilka zadań z matematyki. 上午明玲寫了一些數學題目。 Miała też krótki teścik z pisowni prostych słówek angielskich. 還有一個簡單的拼英文單字測驗。 Po lunchu, jak w każdy wtorek, pojechałyśmy na zajęcia z przyrody. Tym razem spacer był w górach. 吃完午餐，我們開車去山上上自然課。 Środa 星期三 Ania skończyła książkę z ćwiczeniami z matematyki dla 6-9 latków. 明玲寫完了一本適合六到九歲的小孩的數學練習本。 I zaczęła zapoznawać się z dzieleniem. 並開始學除法。 ...

While in Hong Kong attending the Education Conference we stayed at the University of Hong Kong. The university is located on a hill, which means that without knowing the shortcuts and the location of elevators and escalators one keeps hiking and going up and down the stairs all the time, pretty tiring I must say.   We stayed at Robert Black College. The rooms were nice and clean, equipped with everything that one needs for a few days long stay. The breakfast was also not bad (choice of English, Chinese or waffles + a small buffet). The problem was getting anywhere from the university as no buses go into the campus and the underground is still under construction (as many other buildings). More and more often people ask Zosia and us, the parents, where is she going to go to college.We've heard this question from our friends and family, from those who we've just met and those who have known us for a while, reporters and teachers also want to know the answer. Most people assume that since I am a foreigner in Taiwan and Zosia is fluent in English and Polish we are going to send her abroad to study. To tell you the truth, I don't understand this connection. First one needs to ask children weather they want to go to university at all. One needs to find out what are their interests and how can they deepen their knowledge in the area they are interested in. Is it possible for them to audit classes at a local university? Can they observe and experience the kind of work that they are interested in? Is it possible to sign up for on-line courses?
