Babel School in Taiwan

Pewnego upalnego letniego dnia natknęłam się na mały park w Xindian 新店, park ten nazywa się Dafeng 大豐公園. Jest on położony w pobliżu szpitala katolickiego, Cardinal Tien Hospital 耕莘醫院, niedaleko szkoły podstawowej Dafeng 大豐國小. 

Few weeks ago, while hiking with friends on Mt. Hemei 和美山 close to Bitan 碧潭 in Xindian 新店 , we came across an abandoned temple. I was really surprised to see how run down the temple was. I remember walking past the temple many times during the last 15 years and it was always bustling with life. The incense was burning, the tables were full of fruits and flowers to be blessed and the people were coming in and out of the temple.  This time a completely different scene has spread in front of our eyes, the scene of emptiness and sorrow. Unfortunately there was no information as to what happened or where the temple has been moved.   After seeing the state of the temple I decided to find out what has happened, and what was the history of the temple. W Xindian 新店, przy Bitan 碧潭 znajduje się góra Hemei 和美山. Ania bardzo często, przynajmniej raz w miesiącu, wdrapuje się na nią w czasie zbiórek harcerskich. Górka nie jest wysoka, ale prowadzi na nią sporo łatwiejszych i trudniejszych ścieżek. Można na tę górę wchodzić wiele razy i za każdym razem odkrywać inne drogi i inne widoki. W zeszłym tygodniu poszłam z Anią i z dwiema rodzinami polskimi i polsko-tajwańskimi na spacer na Hemei. Nie był to najmądrzejszy pomysł i najfajnieszy spacer, gdyż upał był nie do wytrzymania. Jednak towarzystwo znajomych było wspaniałe i wynagrodziło trudy wspinaczki w 38C. Drzewo bananowe Gąsienica (larwa) ćmy fruczaka gołąbka    Góra Hemei jest znana z olbrzymiej ilości świetlików na przełomie kwietnia i maja, a także wielu motyli w lecie. W zeszłym tygodniu najwięcej było motyli Common Jay ( Graphium doson ):   Spacer zakończyliśmy wizytą w opuszczonej świątyni, ale o tym następnym razem.

We usually stay in Taipei during Chinese New Year holiday. This year the weather was really nice and warm on that day, so we decided to go hiking not far from our home.
