Last week Zosia and I went to see a wonderful photo exhibition of one of the greatest photographers, Steve McCurry. Maybe you don't know his name, but most likely you have seen his photos in National Geographic or other magazines.
Steve McCurry is an American photographer, his photos from Pakistan and Afghanistan were published in New York Times, Time Magazine, Paris Match. The most famous photo "Afghan Girl" appeared on the cover of National Geographic in 1984. There were many more photos showing the cruelty of wars in Asia, pictures from Iraq-Iran War, Lebanon Civil War, the Cambodian Civil War, the Islamic insurgency in the Philippines and the Gulf War. McCurry shows the toll that the wars take on people.
You just can't take your eyes off McCurry's portraits.
Other photos show the "normal" life which seen through McCurry's lense is never "normal".
