Babel School in Taiwan

Another Taipei park that we visited during our weekly nature class was Rongxing Garden Park  榮星花園 located between Jianguo N.Rd 建國北路 to the west, Longjiang Rd 龍江路 to the east, Minsheng E.Rd 民生東路 to the south and Wuchang St. 武昌街 to the north. The closest MRT station is the Zhongshan Junior High School Station 中山國中捷運站. Interesting thing is - the park was privately owned and to visit it one had to pay an entrance fee. In 1989 the area was bought by Taipei City and the park became a public one. In the north-west corner of the park there is a nice open-air swimming pool. I've never visited it, but many of my friends go there to cool down during summer. I wish we would have gone there last Tuesday! It was sooo hot! Four years have passed since the last Olympic Games in London, UK. Soon the next Games will be starting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am really happy to announce that Jaś has completed another project! This time in chemistry - HOW AN ATOM IS BUILD .  He was quite happy to do this project and very satisfied with the result.  The project is trilingual - Polish, English and Chinese. Before he started work on the poster/lapbook we first read the relevant information in both Polish and English textbooks and made notes. Later Jaś translated the most important vocabulary into Chinese. Here is the ready project: The front page Unfolded I hope that there will me more projects like that in the months to come.

It's been a few weeks without our Tuesday nature class. The weather this time of the year is not treating us very well - it rains every day in the afternoon. And as our class in in the afternoon and nobody wants to get soaked wet, the class gets cancelled very often. This Tuesday it also almost got cancelled - it was raining in most parts of the city in the early afternoon, but around 3pm the rain stopped. This week we visited the Fuyang Ecopark for the second time. You can read about our first nature class in that park HERE . Of course almost as soon as we started the class it started raining. We had to find shelter at a covered rest area (just like last time). Fortunately the teacher has prepared an interesting activity for the kids - they were making a natural mosquito repellent. The main ingredient was dried and powdered mugwort (艾草, bylica pospolita, Artemisia vulgaris). The kids got a piece of slowly burning paper which they they had to twist to form a cylin...

Już jakiś czas temu wytłumaczyłam Ani, które liczby są parzyste, a które nieparzyste. Dzięki następującemu ćwiczeniu nie miała najmniejszych problemów ze zrozumieniem tego. Należy przygotować zestaw kartoników z liczbami od 1 do 10 i 55 klocków, żetonów, małych monet lub czegokolwiek innego małego. Prosimy dziecko o rozłożenie kartoników z liczbami po kolei, od 1 do 10, w jednym rzędzie. Następnie pytamy się dziecko co przedstawia pierwszy kartonik - 1. Kładziemy jeden żeton pod kartonikiem. Tak samo postępujemy z dwójką - drugi żeton kładziemy obok pierwszego. Pod liczbą trzy kładziemy dwa żetony w rzędzie pierwszym i jeden w drugim. Pod czwórką kładziemy dwa żetony w pierwszym i dwa w drugim rzędzie. Zwracamy dziecku uwagę, że pod jedynką żeton nie ma pary, pod dwójką ma parę, pod trójką nie ma i tak dalej... Tłumaczymy, że te liczby, które nie mają pary nazywają się nieparzyste, a te które mają parę - parzyste. Prosimy dziecko by samo dalej układało żetony. My zamiast żet...
