October has already passed so it's time for another review of what was happening at Babel School. Last month, almost every weekend we had some special events to attend.
First weekend of October was of course the Mid-Autumn Festival. This year we didn't really celebrate, just stayed at home, played games and had shashliks for dinner.
On the second day of the Mid-Autumn Festival Jaś's band U18 had an outdoor performance as part of the Taipei Jazz Festival "Jazz Decade".Following night was the Nuit Blanche event in Nangang. It was soooo crowded!
We are so lucky that the coronavirus has been almost eliminated in Taiwan and all the big events can be taking place.
The following weekend was the Double Tenth celebration. There was an amazing Proud of Taiwan light show shown on the front of the Presidential Building.
Ania usually doesn't get a chance to see Taipei by night, so this was a good occasion to show her how the city looks like with all the lights on.
The following Saturday Ania has spent with her scouting troop at the annual Ecological Fair at Daan Forest Park.
On Sunday Ania and I went to Muzha to search for more geocaches. After many kilometers of walking by the river, we found three!Last day of October was of course Halloween, but instead of joining the Halloween party in Tianmu, we decided to see the Pride Parade in front of the Taipei City Hall. As always it was a great street party for everyone!
In the evening we enjoyed listening to the Jazz Halloween concert. You might ask: and what about lessons? Did we do any?
Yes, of course!
Geology
Ania has learned a lot about geology. She made an interesting project about kinds of rocks and minerals. I will soon write more and show more photos from this project.
Ania has also finished the Land and Water Forms project.History
Ania has finally started the history timeline. We've been reading a lot about the prehistory - first people, stone age, iron age, Mesopotamia ... She seems to enjoy learning about history quite a bit.
Math
Last month Ania has done quite a bit of math - large numbers multiplication and division, least common denominator, greatest common divisor, polygons, angles and more.
Sports
Ania is still continuing tennis lessons twice a week and also skateboarding and cycling in the afternoons.
Chinese
Ania does Chinese 3-4 times a week. Besides writing some grammar exercises, she reads aloud stories about how different Chinese characters came to be written the way they are. I also give her "spelling tests" 😉
Science project
It took Ania two weeks to grow these beautiful minerals. You can find more info and photos on how she has done that HERE.
Literature project
One of Ania's favorite books is Six Bullerby Children (The Children of Noisy Village). She has made a very nice project about the book. For now I am showing you only the title page, more to come soon.
Japanese
Ania has started her Japanese lessons with one of our friends (homeschooling moms). Sometimes the lessons are face to face other times on-line.
Reading
Ania is reading in 4 languages, take a look which books she read last month.
In October we have also given two interviews for magazines, but I will write about it some other time.
Czy znacie szwedzkie filmy o dzieciach z Bullerbyn? Zachowano w nich klimat książki - nasze dzieci bardzo je lubią.
ReplyDeleteJa znam film, ale niestety nie mogę znaleźć wersji, którą można by u nas oglądać.
